A Great Multitude

After these things I looked, and behold, a great multitude which no one could count, from every nation and all tribes and peoples and tongues, standing before the throne and before the Lamb, clothed in white robes, and palm branches were in their hands; and they cry out with a loud voice, saying,

“Salvation to our God who sits on the throne, and to the Lamb.” And all the angels were standing around the throne and around the elders and the four living creatures; and they fell on their faces before the throne and worshiped God, saying, “Amen, blessing and glory and wisdom and thanksgiving and honor and power and might, be to our God forever and ever. Amen.”

Then one of the elders answered, saying to me, “These who are clothed in the white robes, who are they, and where have they come from?”

I said to him, “My lord, you know.”

And he said to me, “These are the ones who come out of the great tribulation, and they have washed their robes and made them white in the blood of the Lamb.

For this reason, they are before the throne of God; and they serve Him day and night in His temple; and He who sits on the throne will spread His tabernacle over them. They will hunger no longer, nor thirst anymore; nor will the sun beat down on them, nor any heat; for the Lamb in the center of the throne will be their shepherd, and will guide them to springs of the water of life; and God will wipe every tear from their eyes.”

Revelation 7:7-19

Amen! Salvation belongs to our God!

Question: Who are these people? Any ideas anyone? I’d love to hear your thoughts.

  1. Is it the children of Israel in Leviticus 23? where it speaks about the Unleavened bread, and the Holy convaction?

    • I looked up Leviticus 23 and I’m not convinced. This multitude of people are from all nations, tribes, and tongues– and those in Leviticus are Jews only. It seems to me that they are either martyrs or the saints after the rapture. We can only speculate at this point.

However, since they are 1) a multitude that can’t be numbered, and 2) are from every nation, tribe, people and language 3) are clothed in clean, white linen (which the martyrs in the 5th seal are not) I would lean more toward this scene taking place directly after the rapture (or the catching away) of the saints.

  2. Unlike jmshistorycorner, I’m not guessing. I KNOW WHO THESE PEOPLE ARE! They are people with the same convictions as I have about who Jesus is….He is the Son of the Living God Who has paid the price for my sins. The Scriptures reveal over and over again who these people are…the ones who confess the Lord and have dedicated their lives to Him. If I die in the next second, I truly know where my New Home will be. I look to you, Dee, to enlighten the masses. Keep up the good work.

    • I also am 100% convinced that this multitude is completely comprised of the saints of Jesus Christ! My conviction is that this scene takes place directly after the rapture. And I personally believe that the rapture takes place sometime after the Sixth Seal is opened, but before the Seventh Seal. I know many don’t agree with me, and all we can do at this point is speculate, but I believe the overall evidence suggests this timeline.

Thanks so much for your encouraging words and powerful comment!
