Recently, I have been accused of misrepresenting myself on WordPress.
In what way, you might ask?
- Challenging those who hold to Traditional Biblical Views, in terms of the timing of the rapture of the Church.
- Not holding to a traditional Pre-Tribulational Rapture, yet promoting ministries on my blog that do, thus misleading my viewers as to my stance on this subject.
- Not confronting a follower of my blog who made a random comment that was interpreted as being in line with a preterist belief (in the accuser’s opinion), though absolutely no evidence or other statements are found to support the accusation.
- Referring to the Didache, a first century church commentary, during a comment exchange with another blogger.
For the sake of fairness, I can understand the reasoning behind some of these statements, and will strive to make my own views more known on the face of my site, where appropriate.
In regard to the others, and in the interest of full disclosure, I declare the following:
I hold to a Pre-Wrath Rapture position.
I have written many posts declaring this position and have never tried to hide my beliefs in this regard. The timing of the rapture is up for debate, at this point. If anyone says they know exactly how and when in the prophetic timeline it will take place, they are deceived. I personally, fully and firmly believe it will happen just before God’s wrath begins at the seven trumpets; and that it is the view most supported by scripture, when taken as a whole. Do I know that for a fact? No. And neither does anyone else. That’s why it’s important to be prepared, come what may.
I promote Ministries that teach the uncompromising Truth of God’s Word.
These days, it is becoming exponentially more difficult to find those who uncompromisingly teach the Truth of God’s Word. So, when I come across what I consider to be a rock solid ministry, preacher, or teacher, I like to make that person or ministry known on my blog. I do not consider their beliefs on the timing of the rapture to negate their solid teaching, nor to exclude them from my library of references. Is the timing of the rapture important? Absolutely. Is it a matter of salvation and/or potential division within the body of Christ? No! If it becomes an issue that causes division, then I believe it’s a matter of a wrong heart attitude. In this scenario, that person’s attitude and actions would exclude them from my library of references.
I make it my goal to Confront and Correct with Gentleness.
With the exception of a deliberate, defiant anti-biblical, or anti-Christ statement; I do not make it a habit of publicly confronting others for a one-time random, seemingly innocent comment. Especially when there have been no other comments made to support any cause for accusation. Having said that, if I am concerned by what you say I will most likely inquire as to what you meant, either in the comments section or by contacting you privately. And I would hope for the same from you.
I will, at times, refer to extra-biblical works, such as: commentaries, concordances, quotes, etc. for the purpose of adding clarity; while being careful to reference them appropriately.
In my comments, during a non-confrontational exchange with another blogger concerning what the early church believed about the timing of the rapture, I made the following statement:
“The pre-tribulational rapture was originated and distributed by John Nelson Darby in the 1800’s. This is not what the earlier Christians held to. They believed in a rapture that would happen just prior to the day of the Lord, which is what Jesus taught *(in the chapters mentioned above), as well as Paul and Peter. This is also documented in the Didache, which is an extra-biblical teaching/commentary from the earliest church/apostles. Although it doesn’t carry the weight of the Bible, it does confirm what the early church held to in terms of eschatology.”
*Scripture Chapters include Matthew 24, Mark 13, Luke 21
For this, I was told: “It appears you’d rather challenge those who hold to traditional biblical views and leave the *Preterists unchallenged.” [emphasis mine]
*See comments under heading, ‘I make it my goal to Confront and Correct with Gentleness’, for explanation behind the Preterist reference.
Let me be clear: I place little to no value on traditional biblical views. Rather, I place value on what the Bible alone has to say. How a person interprets the Bible (myself included) does not make it doctrine. And I will most certainly challenge anyone that refers to tradition as doctrine.
I do not, I never have, nor will I ever quote any extra-biblical resource as a matter of Truth or Doctrine. Nor did I do this in my exchange above. My point in referencing the Didache in the exchange above, was to show by their own words what the first century believers held to in terms of the timing of the rapture – which, as it turns out, is in direct opposition to what that blogger teaches.
Bottom Line
In all things, I stand firm in this:
“All Scripture is breathed out by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness, that the man of God might be complete, equipped for every good work.” 2 Timothy 3:16-17 ESV

It saddens me to see that you had to write such a post. I’m glad you two got it resolved, though.

Thank you, I feel the same way. I wouldn’t say we resolved it together, but it’s resolved for me and I continue to pray for him.

I apologize in not coming to you personally. I looked up Didache and found no acceptance of this being genuine other than history perhaps. This does lead one to believe that you were using this extra-Biblically. I do believe in the pre-trib rapture. Love in our Christ Jesus.

I accept your apology. Thank you. I hope that you saw in my reply to SpaniardVIII in the comments that I only referenced the didache in reference to history and not biblical doctrine or truth. Unfortunately my comment on his website is still awaiting moderation. It seems he has no problem slandering me publicly but is hesitant or averse to post my defense. I will let you decide what you should do with your article. God bless.

Good Morning, Dee! What an amazing post to encounter early on 04-23-2019, both as to your post and to the various commenters. I also hold to a pre-wrath rapture of the church and believe it is supported biblically. Like you, I was surprised to read that the early church did not teach that view, but then the early church also thought Christ’s return was imminent (it still is, but 2,000 years later gives us a different perspective on that). I like your comment that you hold to biblical teaching and your dismay that so many churches have veered from that. One UMC pastor told me recently that “God did not write the Bible.” I replied that once you remove God’s authority from the Bible, the Sacred Word becomes your Bible, instead, meaning whatever you want it to. The UMC’s breakup over doctrinal issues results from that apostasy. So encouraged by the community of Christian bloggers. Feel blessed to have found your blog. May God’s rich blessings continue to flow on your ministry.

Thank you, Ward! I had no idea that you held to a pre-wrath rapture. That’s good to know. 🙂 I also agree that imminence, if it is a doctrine, is not applicable at this time. Too many things have to happen first before the rapture. I think the early church did hold to a pre-wrath rapture and that Paul, Peter, and Jesus all taught a pre-wrath rapture. But with the introduction of the pre-Trib rapture theory, most people latched on and it is still strong today. Though there are many who are changing their views to a pre-wrath position, due to the overwhelming scriptural evidence.
It’s frightening how many well-known teachers and pastors have moved away from sound teaching. I’m shocked that a UMC pastor would say that God didn’t write the Bible and am even more glad about their break up. That reminds of Matthew 15:13, “Every plant which My heavenly Father did not plant shall be uprooted”.
God bless you, Ward. Thanks so much for your encouragement! You are a dear friend and I also am blessed to have found your blog!

Dee, meeting other Christian bloggers has been an unexpected blessing for my life. I am enjoying the online community. As you know, I have come to a place where I feel able to post one blog a week — it takes me a few days to write, edit, provide a prayer and discussion questions — so I think part of my ministry is to encourage others in their work. The downside of the various forums is that we often miss the commentaries from other bloggers, so reading through the comments here has served to introduce me to other bloggers. Carry on and God bless!

Hello Dee. Help me to understand this blog entitled “Full Disclosure”. Did you post an answer to this ‘accusation’ you mentioned above in the comment section on the blog this person was referring to? Personally, you did a beautiful job defending yourself with your “Full Disclosure”, but the next time you receive a challenging and scaling comment like the one above just copy and paste….”Let me be clear: I place little to no value on traditional biblical views. Rather, I place value on what the Bible alone has to say. How a person interprets the Bible (myself included) does not make it doctrine. And I will most certainly challenge anyone that refers to tradition as doctrine.” I know you realize that your defense (“Full Disclosure”) will not be well received by persons who set themselves up as judges of someone else’s views/comments/interpretations on the Holy Bible. Be of good cheer…God will not be mocked! One Scripture I love to quote in situations like this…“Touch not my anointed ones, do my prophets no harm!” Psalm 105:15 Good night, Sister Prophet!

Thanks so much for you comments, Sister. 🙂 No, this is not an answer to the accuser, nor a defense against the accusations. But the accusations did make me wonder if others might not understand where I’m coming from and wonder the same things. Hence, Full Disclosure. It doesn’t really matter to me whether or not people judge me. God is my judge. What matters is that I don’t misrepresent myself to well meaning people, who may not say anything at all about it. I want to be as transparent with my beliefs and teaching as possible, which I believe are biblical, and create an atmosphere where people feel they can approach me (in love and not in anger) about anything they have questions or concerns about.
Thanks for quoting myself back to me! You’re right, I will quote that next time. And thanks for the Psalm 105:15 quote. Though I wouldn’t and don’t consider myself a prophet, but I believe this verse applies to all those who serve the Lord. Hugs to you, my friend. God bless!

Powerful.
I like many blogs and many have shared different views. In the end, what we write and believe usually shows in our posts.
I enjoy what others write whether it’s my view, their view, or the man in the moon’s view.
We can all learn from other people’s slant on things and they may even help us to understand what we believe and why. In the end, we’ll all meet Jesus one day and it won’t matter who’s right and who’s wrong. 🙂

Sometimes people give me grief about one thing or another on my blog. Knowing that no one is right one hundred per cent of the time, I try to be kind and gentle. I do not make a big deal out of defending my particular view on a subject. I know the Bible well, have read widely, and know that there are many views on different subjects that are not explicitly spelled out in the Bible. Like you, I won’t argue with anyone about anything…I trust God will show them or me the truth in time. We can just do the best with what the Lord has given us to share with others. Blessings to you! Sending lots of love your way! 💖💖💖💖

Thanks so much for your comments, Valerie! To be honest, I’m not concerned at all by these accusations, however, I want to glean what I can from what was said; so I thought it important to state my views so that others know exactly what they will and will not see on my site. God bless!

I have experienced same accusations in the past . I will not debate “personal opinions “ unless it pertains to the Person of Jesus Christ. how we are saved or the Trinity.
