“We don’t seek to escape this life by dreaming of heaven. But we do find we can endure this life because of the certainty of heaven. Heaven is eternal. Earth is temporal. Those who fix all their affections of the fleeting things of this world are the real escapists, because they are vainly attempting to avoid facing eternity – by hiding in the fleeting shadows of things that are only transient.”

So immensely wise this quote.

I appreciate this quote because the more real heaven is to us the more we find we are living the abundant life now as we walk toward our goal.

Very true. It puts everything else in the proper perspective. Thanks for stopping by and sharing your thoughts. 🙂

Very true… even if I’m still getting over my apeirophobia.

I have to admit, I had to look this word up. LOL. I imagined you as one who is afraid of nothing! I’m curious, what about infinity/eternity disturbs you?

LOL (about how you imagined me).
The endlessness of it. My inability (as a human) to truly comprehend/wrap my brain around that. It used to scare me silly; it doesn’t as much now, but if I think about it too heavily, well…

See, I don’t think Eternity means endless. The concept of endlessness is associated with and requires the concept of time, which doesn’t exist in Eternity. Time was created for this earth or existence. I think eternity or eternal life is more like a state of existence or being. There is no time or measure of existence, it just is. Probably a lot like how animals exist. They have no concept or knowledge of time, they just exist in the moment. At least that’s how I see it. 🙂

Interesting point of view. Time will certainly be irrelevant, and I’m sure that no-one who makes it will have apeirophobia (even if they had it in this life).
That helps a little bit. (Emphasis on LITTLE 🙂 .)

LOL! I’m sure you’re absolutely right! You will quickly shed your apeirophobia in eternity. 🙂

A very comforting thought, needless to say.

Your point of view reminds me of at the end of The Last Battle; in Aslan’s Country, time lost all meaning, and no-one could tell whether a moment or a hundred years had gone by – nor did they care.

That I can relate to, in general. I think most of us have some fear or anxiety of the unknown.

Reading about the symptoms etc of apeirophobia, I realised it explained some aspects of my character/personality, aspects I’d long puzzled over & tried unsuccessfully to change.

Sometimes just understanding helps with getting past something. I definitely have some phobias. But I’ve been able to overcome ‘some’ by realizing why exactly I have the fear and addressing those things rather than trying to just ‘get over it’. Though, I do still have some deep-seated phobias I’ve not been able to let go of just yet. LOL

I doubt I’ll get over my vertigo in a hurry 🙂

Well… I’m pretty sure that’s medical condition. LOL

I just realised that I had the wrong definition of vertigo. Never mind. Strong fear of heights is what I had in mind!

(Although I DO get vertigo sometimes; I’ll sometimes be sitting or lying down, and it’ll feel like I’m moving.)

I get that too sometimes. Usually when I eat too much sugar. Do you eat a lot of sweets?

I do.

Try cutting back and see if that helps. You could be borderline diabetic. It runs in my family, but I’ve never gotten it thankfully. Though I am affected by the quantity of sugar I take in, so I may also be borderline.

I DO need to drop a little bit of fat/weight (I don’t know how accurate “little bit” is 🙂 ).
It’s approaching 2:30 in the morning, so I’ll be going to bed.

I also have a fear of heights, with vertigo, so I can relate and I’m very doubtful that will ever change for me. And I have no driving force to want it to change. It’s not like I need to climb any tall ladders or stand on the edge of a building.

LOL, exactly. It’s bad enough standing near the edge of the roof of my one-storey house.
